Why Join Unison?
There are many good reasons to join UNISON. We are Britain’s biggest and fastest growing trade union with over 1.3 million members. See the UNISON website more details.
UNISON in Anglian Water
A large number of Anglian Water employees are already in a union. Anglian Water is a good company to work for, this is partially due to the hard work unions have done in negotiating your terms and conditions over the years. If you decide not to join and you have any work related problems we will be unable to help you.
Most managers are fair minded and look after you but if yours isn’t then you may well need the support of the union. You may land in a disciplinary or grievance situation through no fault of your own. The resources UNISON has are considerable in fighting your case.
Stewards
You first point of contact will probably be with your local Steward. Stewards are workplace representatives elected by our members. Some have been union members since the1960’s whilst others are mere babes in arms. The majority are also Health & Safety reps. All of us believe in fair play and looking after those with less power and influence while appreciating that a well run profitable company is in all our interests.
Stewards attend regular UNSION and TUC run courses as well as weekend schools to update our skills and keep us abreast of the latest employment and health & safety legislation. As you representatives we can be relied upon to tell the company what you are telling us – and not just what the company wants to hear! And, of course, we’ll keep on fighting for improved terms and conditions as we always have.
Subscriptions and Benefits
We believe UNISON subscriptions are good value for money and are based on how much you earn so if you are relatively low paid you will pay much less than some one on a high salary. A large proportion of your subscription can be recouped by taking advantage of the various discounts on offer. Follow the link below for more details:

You can pay your subs by deduction from payroll or by direct debit. If you are ready to join please visit the how to join page.
Legal assistance
The member must have been in membership of the union for at least 4 weeks prior to the incident or occurence that leads to her/him seeking legal assistance from the Union. The member must not be in arrears of contribution.
